When Emma was a year old, I decided to go back to work as a middle school teacher at a private school. Since then my weight has gone up ten pounds a year. Eating in the lunchroom, snacking in the teacher's lounge, eating too much fast food, not exercising, being lazy... you name the excuses and I've given them.
My daughter is now five years old. I can no longer call this baby weight. I can't rely on those excuses. I have not worked in a year and a half. I have plenty of time to exercise and plenty of time to prepare nutritious meals.
I have tried every diet under the sun.
Nutrisystem: lost 10 pounds, gained it all back.
Bariatric health and wellness: lost no weight.
Weight watchers: lost no weight.
South Beach Diet: lost 7 pounds, gained it all back
Alli: lost no weight, but had some mighty bad stomach issues :(
I have even tried prescription weight loss aids. I took Phentermine for 6 weeks. Lost 10 pounds, and you guessed it, gained it all back.
Why have I failed so many times? Honestly, I am lazy. I will start an exercise regimen, follow it full force for a few weeks, and start to slack off. I have no willpower. I will start my diet back hard on Monday, but by Monday afternoon I have already given up.
I will be using the blog to document my attempts to lose weight. Hopefully having some accountability will help me to stay strong and keep fighting.
